Health and Safety for School Trips Relaxed

The Department for Education (DfE) has published revised health and safety guidance for schools, especially in relation to school trips.  Reducing the document from 150 pages to just eight, it makes clear that risk assessments are not necessary for every activity that takes place outside school, such as museum visits.  The Health & Safety Executive (HSE) has also issued new advice urging a common sense approach for trip organisers, aiming to make it easier for schools to give pupils more opportunities to learn outside the classroom.
