AIM Guidance on Recruiting and Retaining Volunteers

AIM (Association of Independent Museums) have published a wonderful range of really useful information papers.  Although first published in 2009, their briefing paper on recruiting and retaining volunteers is still relevant and useful. It contains some really useful practical advice, the most important of which is creating a volunteer management policy.

Find Specialist Volunteers

Are you looking for volunteers with specialist skills? Do you want a volunteer to help prepare a marketing plan, but don’t know where to find them? Well Reach can probably help you.  You can register a volunteer role, and they will try match that role against their database of available volunteers.

A museum in Birmingham has used Reach, and have succeeded in recruiting a specialist volunteer.  For further informaton see the Reach website at http://www.reachskills.org.uk/reach-for-organisations

If you would like to be put in contact with the museum who have used Reach, please email me at emma.buckler@wolverhampton.gov.uk
