I have recently read a really interesting blog post by Linda Spurdle, Digital Manager at Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery, about a survey she conducted, asking their Twitter followers what tweets they like from the museum.
The results from the survey are really interesting. Some times we are told that Twitter users don’t want to receive marketing messages. 91.7% of respondents to the survey stated that they liked tweets about events and exhibitions. 45.8% said that receiving tweets about exhibitions and events had encouraged them to visit an exhibition.
I really urge all museums who are thinking of using Twitter, or already are, to look at Linda’s blog. I was certainly surpised by the results.
